What's Happening @ FYFB

Support the Annual Holiday Fund Appeal

The holiday season is always a deeply emotional time at FYFB. From the highs of exceptional generosity and kindness to the challenges of meeting the special needs of our clients, the demands of the holidays take a toll on our volunteers.

FYFB Holiday Fund AppealThis November as we kick off Holiday Fund Appeal the challenge is even greater. With a 45 percent increase in the number of people needing our services and a 30 percent increase in the volume of food over the past 24 months, meeting the needs our clients has never been more difficult.

Beyond these numbers are the faces of families and individuals who are living in poverty in downtown Toronto during the holiday season. Faces that include hundreds of children. The Holiday Fund Appeal is critical to ensuring we can provide special services to children and families who rely on our programs during the holidays. We invite you to please help us help families in need by supporting our Holiday Fund Appeal with an urgently needed donation. Your support can make the difference in creating positive holiday memories for these families at this important time of the year.

You can make a difference in our community this Holiday Season by donating securely online through the Canada Helps website or by mailing or dropping off your donation at:

The Art of Community

The FYFB booth at the Queen West Art Crawl has become an important annual outreach event to help connect our services with people living in downtown Toronto. Led by Board Member Chris Murphy and a fabulous team of volunteers, thousands of our neighbours came to learn more about FYFB and the work we do helping people living in poverty in our community over the weekend.

The event is also an important fundraising event and this year was our most successful thanks to the generosity of FYFB Board Member and art collector David Angelo who donated several pieces from his private collection for auction. Together with community donations and donated work by other artists, FYFB raised more than $3,800 during the Art Crawl. We want to thank everyone who came out to support FYFB at the Queen West Arts Crawl.

Leading Companies Lead the Way

The Monitor Group supports Fort York Food BankThe Monitor Group demonstrated why they're one of the world's leading consulting firms when they teamed up with FYFB to help make a difference in the lives of the people we serve. The firm held a silent auction to raise more than $5,900 to support FYFB's programs, conducted a food drive to bring in much needed groceries and rolled up their sleeves to work along FYFB volunteers for a day to experience firsthand the work we do.

As we head into the demanding holiday season, the spirit of Monitor's generosity, hard work and commitment to community lives on in FYFB and serves as a challenge to other organizations to help us help people living in need in Toronto.

The Strike Out Hunger Bowlathon Rolls On

FYFB bowlathon photogalleryThe sixth annual FYFB Strike Out Hunger Bowlathon has rolled in the history books raising more than $8,000 to support our hunger and community programs. Devi Arasanayagam once again led a team of dedicated volunteers to make this year's Bowlathon another great success. We thank all the returning teams and all the new volunteers who came out to strike out hunger in downtown Toronto.

Check out the Strike Out Hunger photo gallery for all the action.
