Volunteer Profile

Marianne Gwon

FYFB has received a $6,000 donation from GMAC ResCap as part of their Return on Involvement (ROI) award program which recognized FYFB volunteer and GMAC ResCap credit risk analyst Marianne Gwon for her exceptional commitment to community involvement.

Marianne received the ROI award after being nominated by her fellow colleagues at GMAC ResCap. In nominating her, Marianne's colleagues wrote, "One of Marianne's greatest assets is her selflessness. She has shown great dedication and love for the people in need. Whether it is in or out of the office, she shows great leadership and commitment we can all recognize."

What does it mean to be recognized in this way?

I'm definitely honoured to be chosen in this way. I hope that it will encourage other people and communities to volunteer and help our community.

What makes FYFB so special to you?

It is much more rewarding to be involved with FYFB because you can directly see where your work and where your money goes. Everyone is very involved. I was looking for a personal experience and FYFB is my reality check that people in our community need help.

What would you say to others to encourage them to get involved?

Nothing is ever too small at FYFB. We appreciate every penny and every minute and hour that people put in. You can see that people can benefit from the small things you do.

Thank you for all you give us Marianne.

At the end of the day, I'm not the one who is giving; I'm the person who is receiving. I'm thankful there is a place like FYFB where I can give.

Volunteer orientation sessions are held at 2:00pm on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. Click here to register online or drop by the Food Bank for more information.
