What's Happening @ FYFB

Winter Relief Fund Update

Harsh winter conditions and hard economic times resulted in FYFB setting a new record for client demand in January. FYFB served more than 3,100 hot meals in our community kitchen and helped 2,277 clients prepare almost 20,500 meals in their homes with our food baskets last month. To meet this increasing demand over the winter months, FYFB is asking our friends to generously support the Winter Relief Fund at this time.

Community Partner Profile: The Chocolate Factory Lofts

The Chocolate Factory Lofts on Queen Street West have become an important community partner after meeting FYFB at our outreach booth during the Art in the Park event in Trinity-Bellwoods Park last fall.

Long time FYFB Board director Douglas Anweiler recently attended a monthly condo association meeting to thank the residents of the Chocolate Factory Lofts for their generous support and to speak about the difference FYFB is making in the community.

Changing the Value of Change

FYFB will again be getting out the word and raising vital funding from 7:30 am to 9:00 am at downtown subway stations with our 3rd Annual TTC Blitz on Thursday, April 3. "After raising more than $10,000 in last year's Blitz, we're excited about the difference we can make in our community with generous support from subway commuters again this year," said Asher Lai, TTC Blitz Chair for 2008.

"We're looking to add more subway stations this year and need more volunteers to fully realize the potential for this event," said Asher. "The more volunteers who participate, the greater our impact in the stations and the more money we raise to support our programs. I strongly encourage FYFB friends to volunteer for this important event as the support of TTC riders is really energizing and the enthusiasm of the volunteers makes participating a truly rewarding experience."

You can make a difference by volunteering for the 2008 TTC Blitz. Please contact Asher at asher.lai@bmo.com to volunteer at a station. Or register your corporate team as part of our corporate challenge won last year by the McCarthy Tetrault Team at St. Andrew's Station.
